Sonic The Hedgehog was originally slated to release this November. For those who were unaware that this film was even coming out, here’s a look at the trailer which came out over a month ago.

Once the trailer was released, a controversy started brewing over the design of the movie’s lead character.

I don’t see what the big deal is about the design of Sonic, but it appears that the majority of fans didn’t see it that way. After the creators of the film took a pounding on social media, this was announced on Twitter a short time ago.

The director Jeff Fowler seems to have slowed things to allow the VFX artists to get this one right. I feel there is more to this than appeasing the masses. Releasing a film in November like this would face some stiff competition and by moving it to Valentine’s day weekend 2020, Sonic The Hedgehog will have a higher chance of doing well at the box-office. Regardless, it appears that the fans have been heard and they are fixing these perceived errors.

For those who are wondering what the film is about, this is what we know so far. The film follows the adventures of Sonic as he navigates the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound – human – best friend, Tom Wachowski (James Marsden). Sonic and Tom join forces to try and stop the villainous Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination. The film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.
