Euphoria may have had their best episode of the season this week, and it had little to do with Zendaya. Maddy took center stage as the fallout from the carnival lead to Nate being charged with assault. Here are five takeaways from this weeks episode.
5. The writers did the right thing in highlighting the disfunction between Nate and Maddy.

Even though Nate and Maddy are certainly passionate towards one another, their relationship is the epitome of dysfunction. This abnormality in a relationship is the trademark of most abusive relationships and bravo to Euphoria for not shying away from this. Nate is coming to grips with the origin of his aggression and how it ties into his sexuality. Maddy views Nate as a possession she loves and nothing more.
4. I didn’t like that Maddy went back to that hotel where Nate was, and I think the previous assault is going to come back to haunt him.

Maddy coming back to the hotel where Nate is at screams to me as a setup for something tragic to occur. If she’s beaten up in the next episode, it wouldn’t surprise me. Nate’s dad is acting as if he cares, but in reality, he doesn’t want his cover blown (remember those tapes!). I will say though; he does come off as quite a sad man in the last 15 minutes of this episode. The pressure of his desires has left him isolated.
3. If Maddy can’t be with Nate, then she might do something to herself.

Call it a hunch, but I could see a scenario where if she’s forbidden from seeing Nate ever (because of the pending charges) that she could hurt herself. I could also see her doing everything in her power to help with his defense (as sick as that sounds).
2. Kat’s newly found empowerment is going to lead to her ending up with the wrong guy.
While Kat seems to take some joy over being sexually dominant over these guys, I just have a feeling this is going to lead to her ending up with a guy who could rough her up. It’s sad because I’m quite conflicted over her. I love that she feels bold, but Kat has to reign it in!
1. I think that Jules will die this season on Euphoria.
In the beginning, it seemed that our focus was primarily on Rue’s destructive tendencies when, in reality, Jules is taking higher risks is Jules. The show appears to born out of Rue’s memory so what if she is sharing with us how her one true love died? I don’t think Jules will hang out with her much longer. She’s well aware that her sobriety is tied to their relationship. Tragedy has been interwoven in these two lives, and I don’t feel they get a happy ending.
