Review: ‘The Fall Guy’ Blasts Its Way into Summer Movie Season

The Fall Guy is one of those rare movies where you are literally smiling from the moment you start the film till after the final credits have run. Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt’s latest film based on the hit 80’s tv show, is the epitome of what a perfect summer movie should be. Nothing too glamourous … Nothing too “over the top”, just so much fun for everyone in theater. It is fairly obvious from the onset that the film is a love letter to the wildly underappreciated stunt performers who often make our films spectacular. What I did appreciate is just how they were able to weave in a number of spectacular stunt sequences into the narrative of the film.

David Leitch directs the hell out of the film and creates an experience that is best viewed not in the confines of your home or on a tablet, but the biggest screen possible. A real crowd pleaser which judging by the box-office, appears to be holding true as the film approaches 100 million at the box-office worldwide. My guess is regardless of the naysayers, The Fall Guy will have more legs and will go well beyond the 130 million it cost to make the film. If you haven’t seen the film, please make sure you see it sooner rather than later.
